It was an exciting opportunity for us to work on Hamburg's renowned filmmaker Fatih Akin's latest film The Cut about a man who survives the Armenian genocide in 1915 in the Ottoman Empire but loses his family, speech and faith.
We came in at the compositing stage to remove some modern elements left in streets to fit the historical setting. Though our contribution was small, it was a challenging 30-second travelling shot we worked on. We did 3d tracking and 3d set extension/replacement on the shot with a lot of foreground actors in the streets of Havana on anamorphic cinemascope footage.
